PACK 142 Blood Drive
We need your help....
Pack 142's blood drive is fast approaching - it is next Friday, May 25th.
We are in need of bakers to donate items - easy hand held items like cookies, brownies and cupcakes. Also, please contact Kate Mackenzie if your cub scout can volunteer his time to work for an hour at the blood drive.
Den 8 has Cantina volunteers from 1:15 - end of school day, but we need more boys for the rest of the day. Also, if there are any Den Leaders or parents who can help within the 2:30 - 6:30 time frame, the more adult leaders we have working with the boys the better.
We would like to see at least 3 boy scouts volunteer per hour - you can sign up for an hour as a den (or individually) and we will know that an entire time slot is covered.
Please contact Kate at 203-312-0110 or

May Pack Meeting |

|
|
|
When: << POSTPONED >> Where: Squantz Pond (at the Candlewood Boat Launch) Time: TBD
We will have to postpone the Pack Meeting that was scheduled Friday May 18th. We will keep you posted.
Our Pack Meeting will be Friday May 18th at 6:30 pm at Squantz Pond at the Candlewood Boat Launch area. We will be having a Soda Bottle Rocket Derby and campfire. Soda bottle rockets are launched with water and compressed air. The soda bottle rockets which you will need to make and bring with you. They are easy to make, you will need a 2 liter soda bottle, cut out some fins, and tape on with duct tape and decorate. Do not use hot glue on the bottle. If you wish you can add nose cone and some weight on the top to help it go higher. Here is a link How to Build a Water Bottle Rocket. Keep it simple they will all fly.
A starting point for weight might be 4-6oz in the top and 1-2 oz near the bottom. using 20-31 oz of water. Website that helped with these calculations: http://www.ohio4h.org/sciencealive/rocketsaway.html.
A couple of rules:
- The rocket can weight no more than 10 oz. We will weigh them at check in.
- The bottle neck opening must be clear of fins and decorations to attach to the lip of the bottle to the launcher.
- We may try to judge who goes the highest and have a championship round. But this event is mostly to have a good time.
- Your Scout will add the rocket fuel (water). Clearly mark the bottle if you are concerned on how much water should be used. It can make a difference on flight time. As a guide the bottle should be no more than one third to half full.
- We will use 60 to 70 psi of compressed air for launching.
- Those who enter the launch area or landing zone without permission will be not able to continue launching their rocket.
Let’s have some fun!
